Marinated eggs: An engaging quantitative demonstration of diffusion

چکیده
Marinated or pickled eggs are enjoyed in cultures across the world, and recipes for these use diffusion to saturate egg white of a hard-boiled with sauce. Inspired by marinated egg, this experiment demonstrates an easy quantitative way. Peeled placed dye solution, penetration distance into is measured as function time using image processing. The distances consistent expected dependence on square root time, occurs faster at higher temperatures expected. This provides new way demonstrate diffusion-based mass transfer visually make connection between physics culture.
